H-REAP Vlan Confusion

Hi,

I'm getting ready to setup one of our remote sites with wireless access of data only, no voice or customer access.  Looks like H-REAP is the solution.  Attached is a diagram of one of our remote site's connectivity and actual vlans.

The following details may be helpful to know:

All LAN vlan routing is static with all vlans advertied out on BGP

Workstations DHCP with a local site server

Phones DHCP with one of the local switches

Currently running a 5500 series WLC at Corporate

Plan to use the 1142n or new 3500 APs

Max 3 APs per site

Remote sites run an ISR and 3560G switches

So, how would I configure routing and switching for the AP's data and control?

Thanks

mlc

Hi Mic,

You need to configure the switchport where APs are conencted as trunk.

The native vlan of the trunk will be the capwap vlan. So pick a "management" vlan where clients don't have access.

Then assign to the AP (from WLC) a vlan for the data SSID. You can pick the same vlan as the workstations.

As simple as that ...
