Redistributing static routes - should eigrp load balance

Hi all

I have 2 access layer 6500's and 2 server layers 6500's running eigrp between them. if I advertise a static default route on both the server layer switches into eigrp. should the access layer switches see this on both server layers and load balance the route between the links, the links are all the same speed by the way

cheers

Carl

Carl,

If the static routes are redistributed with the same seed metric and the access switch has the same EIGRP distance to both distro layer switches, then the redistributed route will be reachable with the same total metric via both distro layer switches and the access switch should load-balance the route.

Even if the links between the access and the distribution layer are of unequal cost, using the variance command in EIGRP configuration should help to make the EIGRP perform unequal-cost load balancing but still use both paths.

Best regards,

Peter
