Hi all,

I would like to know what monitoring tools you use to monitor and generate reports oncisco asa 5510 firewall resources like cpu and memory utilisation as well as number of vpn client connections so that i know my firewall is not overloaded. Pls advise and thks in advance.

ASA unfortunately can hold data for 5 days maximum.

You would need to use a third party monitoring product to monitor the FW resources via SNMP.

For CPU and memory utilization, you can use SNMP to monitor the ASA.

The command if you would like to check it on the ASA itself:

show cpu usage

show mem

To check the number of vpn connections:

show vpn-sessiondb summary

Hope that helps.

Hi Jennifer,

Thk you for your response, but i would like a monitoring tool that can generate report to tell me the utilisation of the cpu/memory of my asa5510 on a daily/weekly/monthly basis so that i can know during which time period there is high utilisation of memory and cpu on my asa5510. Pls advise.
