Solved: C4507 SUP 6L-E SSO

All,

I have dual SUPs 6L-E on C4507. It was configured default SSO mode. I have EIGRP running on port G1/1 and port G2/1. When I issued the command" redundancy force-switchover", am I supposed to see EIGRP neighbors reestablished? Will SSO be able to maintain EIGRP neighbors during the switchover?

Hello Yuhuiyao,

On the above image we can see what elements are synchronized between an active and standby modules according the redundancy mode.

We can see that L3 routing protocols are not synchronized in SSO but convergence can be optimized with NSF (Non-stop forwarding) function.

About NSF with SSO, Cisco link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12.2/54sg/configuration/guide/NSFwSSO.html#wp1131455 provides all the details on how it works with other nsf capable devices and how it can improve the L3 convergence (EIGRP in you case).

Hello,

You have not mentioned whether Gig1/1 and Gig2/1 are part of same port-channel or independent L3 ports.

If these ports are bundled as a port-channel, then there should not be any impact, as EIGRP is sso-aware.

Do you have NSF enabled ?

ports G1/1 and G2/1 are layer 3. SUPS are sitting on slot 3 and 4.
