Failed to apply service configuration at SCE2020 : SCA BB Console error

Hello,

When I tried to apply the service configuration at the SCE 2020 that I used, I couldn't, and I obtained the following error message :

----------------------------------------------------------------

Failed to apply service configuration at "SCE device 2 MED [10.150.37.130]": connection is not active ### java.lang.IllegalStateException java.lang.IllegalStateException: connection is not active
connection is not active ### java.lang.IllegalStateException java.lang.IllegalStateException: connection is not active

----------------------------------------------------------------

Could you help me please ?

I heard also about a bug when applying this .pqb file , Is it true that I should change the burstsize before I apply the service configuration to eliminate the bug ?

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

This is maybe because of network connectivity issue. Did you try to put the PC with SCA BB in the same VLAN as your SCE is, and then to try with applying the configuration?

Do you receive the same error?

Also check this doc and system requirements for SCA BB console 3.5.5:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/cable/serv_exch/serv_control/broadband_app/rel355/scabbug/04_SCA_BB_UG.html#wp1045602

or find appropriate user guide version on http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6135/products_user_guide_list.html:

It can also be caused by the operating system version used for the SCA BB Console, see this post:

SCA BB Console version 3.6.0 is supported only on Windows 2000 or Windows XP:

Hi Chaker,

Since Windows 7 is not a supported platform for the SCA BB, we don't have much experience with it (I don't know how bad it is broken).

About the VLAN part of the question, the problem is not that SCE and SCA BB console are on a separate VLAN, this should normally work.  Minja's point was that if there is a network connectivity issue with the current setup, it would probably get bypassed if the SCA BB console and SCE are put on the same VLAN.

On the other hand, could it be that Windows 7's firewall is handling traffic differently when communicating with a different subnet or the same subnet?

Thanks a lot Minja for your response.

I think it is true because I tried to apply the config (.pqb file) from my PC located in the same VLAN as the SCE and I it worked !

Thanks very much Tom ,

I used Windows 7  in my laptop , so you think that it is caused by the OS version.

I thought also like you for a period, but it worked when I applied it and my PC is on the same VLAN as the SCE.

My friend used Windows XP and he had not any problem !

Problem of VLAN ? Problem of OS ? I am really confused. We have here 2 hypothesis

Best Regards.

Thanks a lot Tom,

Now I am sure that the problem is from Windows 7

I am now in front of 2 explanations :

- Windows 7's firewall is handling traffic differently when communicating with a different subnet or the same subnet as you said.

- Or : last time when I applied configuration when my PC is on the same subnet as the SCE I had my firewall not running (desactivated) , and those days when I was with my clients (not in the same network as the SCE) and I applied config (.pqb file), the firewall was running, I'm sure of this.

Thanks Tom, thanks Minja.
