Will 'no switch x provision' cause switch to reload ?

Hi there

I have inherited a switch stack as follows:

Switch#  Role   Mac Address     Priority Version  State
----------------------------------------------------------
*1       Master 04fe.7f0d.2280     1      0       Ready
2       Member 0000.0000.0000     0      0       Provisioned
3       Member ec44.76e5.7980     1      0       Ready
4       Member 0064.40aa.2200     1      0       Ready

UK01SW47#sh swi stack-p
  Switch #    Port 1       Port 2
  --------    ------       ------
    1          Down          Ok
    3           Ok           Ok
    4           Ok          Down

UK01SW47#sh swi nei
  Switch #    Port 1       Port 2
  --------    ------       ------
      1        None           3
      3         4             1
      4         3            None

I need to remove switch 1 and just stack the current switch 3 & 4.

I intend to

a: power off switch 1. This should cause a master election between 3 & 4.

b: connect stack cable between switch 3 port 2 and switch 4 port 2 to enable a full duplex redundant connection.

I would like to remove switch 1 and 2 from the configuration with:

no switch 2 provision ws-c3750g-48ts

no switch 1 provision ws-c3750g-48ts

Will this cause the switch stack to reload.

As this is a production system I hope it wont

Thanks for you expected help

Regards

Richard

Hi Richard,

You should be good. The switch stack should not reload after removing the two unprovisioned switches.

Sure but switch numbering will be puzzling to the un-initiated.
