Hello Ozhan,

This seems to refer to your earlier post about the bus error, doesn't it?

First, make a note of your current IOS feature set (IP Base, Advanced Security, Advanced IP Services, Advanced Enterprise Services, etc.) - looking at the show version and/or on the current image name will help you identify the feature set. Second, find out how much DRAM and FLASH your router is equipped with - again, the show version is your friend here.

Then, try to locate the newest 12.4T or 12.4 IOS using the Feature Navigator at the following link:

http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/CFN/Dispatch?act=rlsSelect&task=search&searchby=platform

Select the 2801 as your platform and after clicking on the Continue button, set first the major release to 12.4T, then select the most recent release and then browse over available feature sets to see the hardware requirements and the features available in the particular image. For example, the 12.4(24)T3 image for 2801 in the Advanced IP Services feature set requires 192MB DRAM and 64 MB FLASH. You may also try having a look on the 12.4 track.

You may even try to look for newest versions in the 15.0M track but these IOSes need generally as much as twice the memory than their slightly older 12.4T counterparts so I don't believe the 15.0M would be usable for you right now unless you have a router having lots of DRAM.

After you select your IOS version that would meet the hardware resources you have available, I strongly recommend comparing its available features to your current IOS version using the Feature Navigator again:

http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/CFN/Dispatch?act=compare&task=display

If you properly enter the exact information on both your current and your newly selected IOS version into this tool, it will nicely display the different features in both images, as well as the same features.

Best regards,

Peter

Hi Ozhan,

for the upgrade procedures themselves, you can use the following page:

Hi Ozhan,

this device has 256Mb of DRAM and 64Mb flash:

<...snip...>

Cisco 2801 (revision 6.0) with 238592K/23552K bytes of memory.

<...snip...>

When performing the upgrade on a 2800, you will have downtime during the time when the device is reloading.

To reduce downtime, you may be able to use the warm upgrade feature described here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/fundamentals/configuration/guide/warm_upgrade_ps6441_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html

Hi Ozhan,

for the upgrade procedures themselves, you can use the following page:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/1800/1841/software/configuration/guide/b_image.html

HTH,

Bert

Cisco 3800 series routers, Cisco 2800 series routers, and Cisco 1800 series routers support only external compact flash memory cards. Internal flash memory is not supported. For more details, see Using CompactFlash Memory Cards.

How do I know I have compact Flash Memory?

can you check if my memory enough from the log

Do you know if I can find screen shot of the process ?

Hello Ozhan,

As verified above, you have 256MB of DRAM and 64Mb of flash on your device.

In regards to your query about screen-shots, you can find an example of the output expected at the following link prevously provided:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/1800/1841/software/configuration/guide/b_image.html

As explained, if you would like to minimize downtime significantly, you can use 'reload warm file url'' instead of just reload.

HTH,

Bert

I have follow the link and I am trying to download IOS but tooks me to software download page

how do I find the correct IOS not sure which one I am looking for

can you help?

Hi Ozhan,

The latest 12.4T version you can find at:

http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/go/ImageList.x?relVer=12.4.24T4&mdfid=279316777&sftType=IOS+Software&optPlat=&nodecount=6&edesignator=ED&modelName=Cisco+2801+Integrated+Services+Router&treeMdfId=268437899&treeName=Routers&modifmdfid=&imname=...

I would advise to use the same feature set, hence the file to download is:

c2801-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T4.bin

HTH,

Bert

I am not able to download any of them ?

  • To download this software you must have a valid Technical Support Services Agreement associated to your Cisco.com user ID.
    • If you do not have a Technical Support Services Agreement you can get one through:
      • Your Cisco Account Team if you have a direct purchase agreement with Cisco
      • Your Cisco Partner or Reseller
    • Once you have the Technical Support Services Agreement you must associate your Technical Support Services Agreement to your Cisco.com user ID with Profile Manager

Hello Ozhan,

you will require a valid Technical Support Services Agreement associated to your Cisco.com user ID.

I would suggest to contact your Cisco account team or partner/reseller to look into the possibilities.
