Hi All,

We have 4 cisco WS-C6509-V-E switches running in the data center. The IOS was released 2 years ago and I'd like to upgrade it. I went to Cisco website and found 2 types of IOS for cisco WS-C6509-V-E switches.  1. Cisco 6500/7600 Series Multiprocessor WAN Application Module and 2. Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Communication Media Module. What is the difference between them? Which one should I download? The show version output shows below. Any input will be appreciated.

You should not use those two download links listed in your post. Those are for special modules. What you need is the Supervisor 720 / MSFC3 IOS images. You can search this file name, and this is the latest release for SUP720

s72033-ipservices_wan-mz.122-33.SXI5.bin
