Cisco USB Console port connection

Hi

I have a pair of new 2960S-48TS-L switches which have the new USB console connector on them as well as the usual RJ45 type.

I thought I'd try the USB out so I got myself a USB to MiniUSB cable and downloaded the driver from CCO.

It worked straight off, but if I unplug the USB cable from either the switch or the laptop end, the session hangs and only recovers if I restart whatever application I am using and reconnect (I've tried hyperterminal, Putty and Tera Term so far)

This is obviously not ideal if working in an environment such as a lab where i need to go between different devices on the console, has anyone else tried this and had similar results?  If so, did you find a fix?

many thanks

Mat

Hi,

I have not heard of any issues elsewhere so far.

1. Try another PC/laptop

2. Try other type of OS (win7, winxp etc)

3. Try removing the drivers and re-install.
