Too difficult for the Cisco Legal Department to figure out!

Daniel Bruhn Wed, 12/08/2010 - 18:03

Unfortunately, every country has different laws regarding contests.  This makes it impossible for us to include every country in the world for our contests.  I assure you we do our best to include any countries that have similar laws.

Paolo Bevilacqua Wed, 12/08/2010 - 20:41

I hear you Dan.

Two countries (minus Quebec) out of 193 in the world, it's a starting point already

rrudling Fri, 01/21/2011 - 02:06

"we do our best to include any countries that have similar laws. "

Most of Western Europe has 'similar' laws, and is a massive market for Cisco!  I seriously doubt that anybody has done their 'best' in this case!  Certainly there would be no problems with including the UK.

alfredos Wed, 02/16/2011 - 00:53

...Or the whole European Union for that matter.

Besides, Cisco knows very well that I am Spanish and live in Spain. What's the point in sending me an e-mail to participate on something on which I'm excluded? Hanlon's razor at work, it seems.

kelvin.chan Wed, 12/08/2010 - 18:04

GREAT CONTEST!!! I want that iPad!

I updated my profile with a cool nostolgic picture of myself at a secret location -- details of my long laborous carreer and even my living area...

Maybe someone up here in the Inland NW can have a latte with me???

Great! Where you in Cisco Costa Rica?

I used to work in Cisco TAC (outsourced by a third-party company here in Costa Rica).

Hope you enjoyed your visit here!

colin-graham Thu, 01/20/2011 - 04:11

Surely the law here in Scotland ain't that much different if at all??? We are the 51st state after all ;-)

chadu Tue, 02/08/2011 - 07:51

I just realized I hadn't updated my I have.  Whew!  Ok now, where's that iPad?   ;-)

rexfranklin Thu, 01/20/2011 - 08:58

Hi Dan,

I would love to win a iPad my seven year old son wants an iPad for his birthday.

compuplanet Thu, 02/10/2011 - 13:11

Why do you send us an email to participate in the contest if you only have it valid for US Residents? Just to waste our time? I spent so much time updating the profile with Biography and Expertise.  For sure this makes us feel very positive about Cisco! You show zerorespect for other's peoples valuable time!

DDirektor Fri, 02/11/2011 - 00:17

Greetings from the Croatia ...

Why do you send it any way to all users . Send it only to USA residents

pieterh Fri, 02/11/2011 - 01:02

"individuals age 18 or older who are legal residents of the fifty United States, D.C. and Canada (excluding Quebec)"

updated some profile items anyway.

Good luck to the "legal residents"

anitagaur Fri, 02/11/2011 - 02:15

If the contest is not open to people in other countries, why do you send emails???

Roelof@4top Fri, 02/11/2011 - 02:18

this is a great contest!! i realy like cisco now!

So if i fill in my personal details i would make a 0,001% change in winning an ipad but the change that Cisco can use the information for wathever they want is 100%.

I think it is a great strategy to sell products and then put all support for the product (even configuration manuals ) behind a login.

I would of course sell my personal infomertaion for an Ipad 32G 3G, just send me the thing and i will update my profile.

eamonconnolly Fri, 02/11/2011 - 04:24

I have updated my profile, I have read down through people comments and can't belief that the competition is not open to everyone, this email seems to have been sent around the world and people then have logged on and updated there details only to find out that the majority are not eligable.  This is the stupidest thing, all as cisco have seem to do is annoy loads of people that abvoiusly are cisco users and customers.

I think DAN you should really let the managers know they should show a bit more sense when dealing with the people that are the core of Cisco's business.  Send the email only to people who are eligable(america and parts of canada), it can't be that difficult.

burleyman Fri, 02/11/2011 - 04:44

People.....relax! There is no way to know who is a resident of the US or Canada from people's emails and that infromation may not be avaiable to whoever emailed the contest relax.

Also don't blame Cisco, they do not make your contries rules reguarding contests or weather they can ship an ipad to someone in your country. If you are upset don't blame Cisco, contact someone in your govenment and complain and maybe they would change things.

Good luck to everyone who enters, and I am sorry to those who can't....but keep posting, your knowledge is very helpful.

DDirektor Fri, 02/11/2011 - 07:16

If I can order it from USA they can send it to me.... OK

So problem is not in my couuntry....

Please tell me now where is problem ???????????????????????????????????

Daniel Bruhn Fri, 02/11/2011 - 07:31

I apologize for not being able to include all members in this contest.  After all, it’s a global community so it’s only appropriate to allow all members to participate.  At the time of this contest we had to work with the guidelines provided to us by our legal department.  That said, we have been working with them and for contests going forward we should be able to include most countries around the world.

burleyman Fri, 02/11/2011 - 07:57

Sorry Marin....I should have said area not not just country. I meant no offense. Even here in the states there are sometimes when contests can be for some states but not all states allow certain types of contests. Just like it is open to Canada but not Quebec, so they must have some law there that prevents it. The only point I was making was not to blame Cisco or more importantly the people who run this me if they could make it for everyone they would.

Leo Laohoo Fri, 02/11/2011 - 16:28

Hi Dan,

I can't wait for you CSC to create another contest like this but focused on the Australia and New Zealand residents only!  I'm very sure I'm going to have a strong chance (me and four others) to win an iPad/Cius!

Federico Coto F... Fri, 02/11/2011 - 16:31

When the contest is focused on Costa Rica I'm sure I''ll probably have a chance too! :-)

Leo Laohoo Sat, 02/12/2011 - 15:19

Hey George,

I work with the "four others".  So we'll be in the running to share the iPad if we win.
