css 11500

Unanswered Question
Jan 23rd, 2011

I have a customer who is changing Internet providor and thus will be required to change all the VIP addresses on both CSS 11500, my question is this just a matter of changing the IP addresses in the Circuit section and the relevant VIP IP addresses in under each content statement? Also I assume the devices will be need to be rebooted. Does anybody have a url showing the best way to accomplish this, IE is it best to write erase and re enter all from a blank CSS or can this be  accomplish from the web interface.

I have this problem too.

Hi,

For the kind of change you are describing, apart from the circuits and content rules (which you already mentioned), you may also need to change the routes on the CSS.

In order to make the changes, a reload of the CSS would not be needed. Instead, it would be enough to manually suspend the rules that are going to be modified.

If you have the option to do a gradual migration, I would recommend you to manually suspend a rule, change the IP address, enable it again and confirm that it's working before moving on to the next one. However, if you will have to make all the changes at once, then it would probably be easier to save the current configuration, modify it offline, and then, when the time of the migration comes, clear the old configuration completely (with the "clear running-config" command) and apply the new one.

Daniel

Thank you for your suggestions

I will need to discuss with the customer ion a little more detail the way

they will want to proceed

Also I imagine there will be a delay with the DNS entry locking on to the

new IP address propagating through the internet

Dimi

Just wondering if you received my last Email regarding remote access to

the CSS11500's?

Also I've noticed that only 203.37.208.138 and .139 (https) are active

Vips reading the configs you also have .136 .137 which are not active

Also the could I have a copy of external router configs which points to

the VIPS and a show route

Hi,

maybe I am late, but maybe someone else will read this later.

I had to do the same. I did an copy running-config tftp css1 and used a simple text editor on a pc to change all ip addresses. Isaved the file as css1new.

Using copy tftp css1new startup-config I replaced startup-config and reboot help me to activate the new configuration.

This will interrupt the the service if you do not have a CSS-Cluster, but is an easy and fast way for me.

HTH
