Wireless Access Point Count & Placement

Unanswered Question
Mar 11th, 2011

Hi! I'm looking to see if you guys have a tool for configurating the access point count based on building dimensions and environment (i.e. type/material of walls, etc.). I've used one before on Ruckus' website, but I can't find it now, so I was wondering if you guys had the same thing. For good measure, I've attached the building floorplan of the facility we're looking at quoting, and it has cinder block walls and fire walls placed throughout. I know I'm probably making things more complicated than necessary, but I just want to be extra sure and prepared. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Kent Lucas

Thanks George! I've looked over it a little and it seems promising!

Thanks Again,

You can use Cisco WCS 7.0.164.3 planning mode to determine the amount of AP's and placement location. An evaluation is available for download from http://www.cisco.com/go/wcs

Try Cisco WCS for 30 days at no charge by downloading the full-featured, location-enabledWireless Control System Trial License. This license supports 10 access points for up to 30 days and must be deployed in conjunction with Cisco WCS software from the Cisco Software Center.

Here is the documentation to use the planning mode after creating the maps.
