Upgrading C90 options?

Jason Aarons

Besides the Web page on the C90 how can I upgrade it? I have a bunch of remote C90s and am worried about web browser timeouts.

Q1. Can I use a USB drive with the USB port on back?

Q2. Can I use the xcommand via ssh to tell it to upgrade via ftp, etc?

Hi Jason,

If you have troubles to upgrade via the web interface, you can upload the new software image in /upgrade with SCP (root account must be enabled first if the codec is running on TC4 or above). The file must be named "pkg" (just pkg, no extension) and the upgrade process will start automically when the pkg file is detected by the codec.

Don't forget to enter a release key if you're upgrading from TC3.x to TC4.x.

Hope this helps!

Hi!

Jason: Where do you see or get webbrowser timeouts?

Besides manual web access via a browser and scp you also have the option to use TMS (which

would also use http(s).

If you can script a bit its fairly easy to roll out many updates via scp.

Thomas: is there a way that you can provide a text file with the release key and maybe check if the key is valid.

This is quite well done on the VCS.

Besides that I had seen the xcommand:

xCommand SystemUnit SoftwareUpgrade
    URL(r): < 0="">
    UserName: < 0="">
    Password: < 0="">

and the xconfig:

xconfiguration Experimental SoftwareUpgrade
*c xConfiguration Experimental SoftwareUpgrade Mode: Manual
*c xConfiguration Experimental SoftwareUpgrade ServerAddress: "http://csupdate.tandberg.com/getswlist.py"
** end

but did not look into that.

Thomas: do you have some more infos about how these work and how I could utilize it (either towards

tms or a generic linux webserver with scripts).

Martin
