Static entries in mac address table

Hello,

If someone can explain me if is there something i'm missing:

I have a Catalyst 2950, a Catalyst 2960 and two PCs (one multicast server and one multicast receiver).

For the first test :

one Catalyst 2950 and two PCs

                             Group multicast= 234.56.78.90     ======> mac multicast = 0100.5e38.4e5a

Sender connected to port fast 0/10

Receiver connected to port fast 0/8

                              2950 configuration:

                                          default config +

                                        no ip igmp snooping

                                        mac address-table static 0100.5e38.4e5a vlan 1 interface GigabitEthernet0/10 GigabitEthernet0/8

With this configuration the multicast traffic is limited to interface 0/8. There is no flooding.

For the second test :

one Catalyst 2960 and two PCs

                             Group multicast= 234.56.78.90     ======> mac multicast = 0100.5e38.4e5a

Sender connected to port fast 0/10

Receiver connected to port fast 0/8

                              2960 configuration:

                                         default config +

                                        no ip igmp snooping

                                        mac address-table static 0100.5e38.4e5a vlan 1 interface GigabitEthernet0/10 GigabitEthernet0/8

Unfortunatly the traffic is flooded to all ports on vlan 1.

If someone can explain me if is there something i'm missing ....

Best regards,

Hello,

I realize that IGMP-Snooping is NOT enabled on 2960 - can you send me the results of "sh plat ip igmp snooping flood" ?

Do you have any SVI up and running for that Vlan ?

Yogesh

Hi Yogesh

Please find here the  show platform ip igmp snooping flood command.

We are interested by vlan 100

   2       0    enabled    disabled

   3       0    enabled    disabled

   4       0    enabled    disabled

   5       0    enabled    disabled

100       0    enabled    disabled

101       0    enabled    disabled

103       0    enabled    disabled

104       0    enabled    disabled

For the last question, there is no SVI up or running for the vlan 100.
