Slow File Transfer Performance

Hi;

In our environment we use Cisco 3560x series switches for servers.

Switch Ports Model              SW Version            SW Image

------ ----- -----              ----------            ----------

*    1 54    WS-C3560X-48       12.2(53)SE2           C3560E-UNIVERSALK9-M

All ports have speed 1000 and duplex full configuration. On the same switch when we copy file test between windows servers , speed is normal (single file 5 gb approximately 80 seconds ). But when we test with linux or solaris servers, we maximum see  14 - 30 mb/s (single file) .For gigabit performance i think its bad.

What do you suggest to fix this issue ?

Tnanks,

Best regards

I would go first for a sniffer trace (via SPAN/monitor session). This will tell you if 'slowness' is due to inter-packet delay or packet loss. If it's due to packet loss (i.e. if there are restransmission), look for interface stats/errors at interface level.

If it's interpacket delay, troubleshooting is much more complex and could have various causes (like buffer allocation problem,etc...). Best is to investigate this via a TAC Service Request in that later case.

Thx,

Fabrice
