configuring trunk groups- reducing dial-peer - help needed

Hi

I`ve trying to reduce my dial-peers by using Trunk groups using the following http://www.markholloway.com/blog/?p=452

I`ve added a trunk group  PSTN-OUTBOUND
hunt-scheme sequential both up

Added it to the Serial Interface as below

interface Serial0/0/0:15
no ip address
encapsulation hdlc
isdn switch-type primary-qsig
isdn incoming-voice voice
trunk-group PSTN-OUTBOUND
no cdp enable
!

Tried to add the trunk grp to the Dial-peer but got the following error

GLBSSRSTVG01(config-dial-peer)#trunkgroup PSTN-OUTBOUND
ERROR: voice port exists
GLBSSRSTVG01(config-dial-peer)#

Then tried to add it to voice-port but got this

(config-voiceport)#trunk-group PSTN-OUTBOUND
Error: Failed to add non-analog port to trunk group
Configure in cas-custom mode or serial interface
mode for T1/E1 digital ports and in BRI interface
  mode for BRI voice ports

My thinking is that I create a Trunk group called PSTN and then assign it to the Serials and then assign it to Dial-Peers- is this correct?

any help

Thanks

from the link you put its applied to the serial interface of each PRI then to the POTS dial peers

by the way if you use dial peers with same perefrence using diffrent PRIs the GW will loadbalncie the calls on these PRIs as well

Hi Ipt,

It sounds like you already have the port commands configured on your dial-peer (port 0/3/0:23 for example).  You'll need to remove the port command in order to add the trunkgroup PSTN-OUTBOUND to your dial-peer which is why you're receiving the voice port exists error.

HTH,

Chris
