Hi,

i see from the EOL the replacement device for 850 series is

---Cisco 887 VDSL/ADSL over POTS Multi-mode Router

Data sheet link for cisco 887:

====================

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps380/data_sheet_c78_459542_ps380_Products_Data_Sheet.html

Hope this helps

I think cisco 800 series does not have a built-in modem.

8X7 have "built-in" ADSL modem.  So look at the 887 as what Somu has recommended.

Thanks, how can you tell if the model comes with the built-in modem?

I read the spec on Cisco website, does "ADSL over POTS " refers to built-in modem?

Look at the last digit of the model number.  8X7 means it's got a built-in ADSL modem.

POTS stands for Plain Old Telephone System.

how about 877 is it as good as 887? 877 is cheaper.

True but the 887 has more "grunt" than an 877.  What are you trying to do?

We need a router that can be used for VPN IPSEC access, Firewall, ADSL/ADSL 2+ and built-in Modem.

What is more of 887 than 877?

887 has a higher throughput than an 877.

When you purchase this, make sure you load up the maximum DRAM.  You can never go wrong with this setup.  Make sure you also specify what feature set you need and make sure you download the "crypto" version.

Hi,

The 877 can also supports this. It's now up to you to decide between budget vs throughput.
