Sanjay,

I always recommend Plantronics headsets. Go to this link:

http://www.plantronics.com/us/partners/cisco/

On the right hand-side of the screen you will find several resources. Scroll down until you see the "Cisco Quick Reference Guide". This will give you a 10,000 foot overview of products specifically tested with Cisco. There is also another link you may want to check out. You will see a link under "Solution Finder > Compatibility Guide". This link will walk you through a wizard where you can select your specific phone model.

Pretty handy.

Bill

HI Bill,

I am looking for some document which says about diferent headset models compatible with Cisco 6921 IP Phones.

Thanks

I am looking for some document which says about diferent headset models compatible with Cisco 6921 IP Phones.

Cisco does not recommend or endorse third party products, so you will not find such a document, and have to go with good recommendations like the one from Bill above.

Beside that, all Cisco phones with a separate headset socket will work with the same headsets.

Hi Paolo,

I understand what you are saying and what Bill has recommanded but the issue here is that my customer wants to use his existing headset Ericsson DBC212. I don't think they will work with Cisco IP Phones 6921,6965 etc but customer is adamant to use them and asking me to shown him some Cisco documnet which says that Ericsson handset is not compatible.

Thanks

Sanjay

Sorry, may be I did not made myself clear, so I will repeat it again:

Cisco DOES NOT LIST what headset maker/model works and what doesn't with their phones.

That indipendently from what your customer may expect or desire.

Sanjay,

It actually may be compatible. Based on a quick Google check it looks like that Ericsson phone model is a "Dialog 3000 Series". So, taking it one step further I performed a query using the Plantronics Compatibility Guide wizard. I ran one query for your Ericsson and one for a 6921. The compatible headsets are the same for both. Basically, this means the connector on the phone is the same.

A little more footwork and you should be able to confirm this. For instance, look at the following:

http://www.headsets-australia.com/ericsson-telephones.html

http://www.headsets-australia.com/cisco-headsets.html

You start finding that headsets are compatible but there are some considerations with cabling. Re-using existing headsets + cabling may require some consideration.

Sanjay,

The Plantronics site should give you information on what headset models are compatibile with the Cisco 6921 phone. I just went through the "Solution Finder > Compatibility Guide".

STEP 1. How do you want to use your Plantronics product?

Select "I want to look up compatibility by manufacturer make and model (non-bluetooth, non-3.5mm connector)

STEP 2. Select phone make & model.

Choose Cisco for manufacturer and 6921 for phone model

You then get a list of 64 compatible headsets. You can filter by type at this point.

Other manufacturers outside of Plantronics:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/voicesw/ucphone_headsets.html

I always recommend Plantronics.

As far as documentation, the closest thing I have seen on line is a matrix similar to what Plantronics provides ("Cisco Quick Reference Guide"). Cisco doesn't list preferred headsets in any official document. They just identify specs in the product data sheet. If your vendor supports the specs, then you are compatible.

Anyway, that is the best I can offer at this time.

Regards,

Bill
