IOS Version Compatibility with CUCM 8.5.1

Tomorrow night I'm cutting over after upgrading a CUCM 4.1 to CUCM 8.5.1., System version: 8.5.1.10000-26

Today I'm looking into the existing gateways checking for compatibility with the new system.

Here's what I have:

H.323:  1 2811 router running Cisco IOS Software, 2800 Software (C2800NM-SPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(24)T1

The rest are MGCP:

2811 running Cisco IOS Software, 2800 Software (C2800NM-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(24)T

2801 running Cisco IOS Software, 2801 Software (C2801-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(24)T1

2801 running Cisco IOS Software, 2801 Software (C2801-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(24)T1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3)

2801 running Cisco IOS Software, 2801 Software (C2801-SPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(3e), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)

2801 running Cisco IOS Software, 2801 Software (C2801-SPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.3(11)T10, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc4)

According to this site:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/uc_system/unified/communications/system/versions/IPTMtrix.html#wp1016708

It seems like I should upgrade the IOSes to at least 15.1(3)T.

I've seen other posts that say there "shouldn't" be a problem but if there is to upgrade.

I just want to get a second option (non-TAC, no offense to TAC) about this.  I'm hesitant to upgrade six routers, four of which are remote if things might work without a problem as-is.

Thoughts?

Hey "G",

This (upgrading IOS) is a "recommendation" based on the IOS version that was used

in testing the CUCM release/version it's not a "hard and fast" rule

by any means

I think you should be good to go here.

Cheers!

Thanks Rob!

I checked with TAC as well and they confirmed that all the IOS versions "should" work with the new CUCM version.

He did mention to doublecheck the config on the gateways for media resources since you have to specify which version of CUCM you're using.

So, I'm going to move forward with the expectation that all will work fine.

Now I'm going to download the recommended IOS just in case.

Thanks again!
