Hello,

Did you check why standby SUP is offline? It can stuck in initialization process causing active to lock. Can you plea se check these commands:

show redundancy states

show redundancy

Please also verify what is happening with standby. We need to bring it online or power of for normal operation.

Nik,

Please find the output below.i believe the secondary sup is faulty.

Please tell if the secondary sup is present but it is down then will it allow the switch to configure with the primary sup module.i meant that when it will lock the switch to configure.please explain.

Thanks,

sathya

Hi Sathya,

When the router is in simplex mode the configis not locked. Simplex means that the standby rp is still in rommon or just

started to boot after the switchover.

Once the image download on the Standby is completed - the system moves to

duplex. Now the config mode gets locked, until the standby comes up completely. That is how it was designed for Active not to try synching of config while standby is initializing.

So in your case standby was initializing and you needed to wait once it finished before configuring smth.

Please let me know if it answers your question.

Nik

HTH,
Niko

So in my case, you are saying that secondary sup is booted but still initializing or its not even booting?

SATHYA

Hello,

you can see in show mod it is showing offline:

OFS-MUM-SW14#sh mod

6    48  10/100BaseTX (RJ45)V                   WS-X4148-RJ45V     JAE0935K1Z

1 0017.95d3.ebc0 to 0017.95d3.ebc1 5.0 12.2(20r)EW1 12.2(31)SG       Ok

2 0017.95d3.ebc2 to 0017.95d3.ebc3 5.0                               Offline

So if that still in this state - then yes it is not booted but possibly started as config got locked. You need to console into the standby sup and see what is its state.
