Gavin,
in addition to the document which Jens linked to, I would recommend that you read the document "
Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server IP Port Usage for Firewall Traversal Deployment Guide (X4 to X7)" which is available in the 'Configuration guides' section for the VCS at www.cisco.com/support.

Andreas

Thanks All. do we have to open up any ports from VCS expressway to VCS control?
I could't find it in the doc.

Take a look at the firewall traversal section in the admin guide:
The basic deployment guide has also some fw info:
also, if you log in to the VCS-C and the VCS-E through the web GUI, go to
Maintenance --> Tools --> Port Usage and you'll get a choice of "Local VCS Inbound ports", "Local VCS Outbound ports" and "Remote Listening ports".

No ports need to be opend from Expressway to Control
The VCS Control opens connections to the Expressway and these are maintained with a keep alive.
