Hello All,
Can anyone help me in getting step by step procedure to bring an ASA5550 to factory default setting, so that I can configure it from scratch via ASDM
Thanks,

Hi,
Don't know if there is really any other way than erasing the startup configuration from the ASA by using the command "write erase" on the command line interface.
After this when you reload the ASA it should be without any configuration.
Usually though when you unbox a new ASA firewall it comes with some default configuration which aren't there if you use "write erase". Those configurations usually include configurations for the Management0/0 port on the ASA so you can start configuring the ASA through that.
I suggest getting familiar using the Configuration Guides and Command References for ASA. You can easily Google these or search them through www.cisco.com. These usually include all the information you need.

Console to the unit and try the below...
devicename>en
devicename#conf t
devicename(config)#config factory-default
Pull the plug or reload without saving the config.

Hello,
On asdm:
1-File
2-Reset device to the default factory configuration.
