The fact that the error message includes traceback information is an indication that this is related to a software error. We do not have enough information to say exactly what kind of software error.

Has this error happened before or is this the first time? Does it happen infrequently or does it happen often? What happens when this error is generated? Does the Catalyst 5500 continue to operate or does it crash? Depending on how often it happens and the severity of the result when it happens we would normally think about whether we could just live with the error or if we need to fix it.

With a software error like this fixing the problem would usually involve upgrading the code. But with a switch as old as the Catalyst 5500 I am not sure that a code upgrade is feasible.

Did you upgraded the IOS recently? Did you try to set the boot order? Have you check the logs? Have you replaced the flash cards?

Hi Eugen -

IOS is upgraded to latest one already and we havent upgraded the IOS. Nothing was done.

Hi Rick -

Thanks for the help -

This error has not happened before from my memory (80% sure). I found it interesting that both RSM's had it at the same time. The error did not seem to cause a crash.

We are upgraded to the latest code.I was hoping we might find the trigger on this issue as but I think we will not be able to get a "fix".

If you are running the most recent version of code then there is not an alternative to upgrade code to get a fix. It might be possible that going to an older version of code might prevent the problem (but of course an older version might not work as well and might introduce new problems). If the problem has occurred only once and was not particularly disruptive, then probably the thing to do is to just let it go (and hope it is a long time before it happens again).

Hi Rich -

I wonder if it had something to do with HTTP administrative access?

Protocol version : HTTP/1.0
SSL : no
Keep-Alive : no
Options allowed : (Not implemented)
Headers :

Date: Sat, 04 Feb 2012 04:36:58 EST
Content-type: text/html
Expires: Thu, 16 Feb 1989 00:00:00 GMT
WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="level 15 access"

NessusID: 24260

Its seems there might be a http related bugs to this message?

Please help for the same.

Thanks for the wonderfull help
