Vlan (tagged)issue on a cisco ap aironet 1250 and switch hp 1905

Hello everyone,

I have configured my switch using vlan 1 and 2, on ports 1-2 and 7-8 respectively. I have not mode trunk on this switch so i use hybrid port:

SwitchHP(configure)# interface ethernet 1/1

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport mode hybrid

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport allowed vlan add 1 untagged

SwitchHP(configure-if)# interface ethernet 1/2

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport allowed vlan add 1 untagged

SwitchHP(configure)# interface ethernet 1/7

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport mode hybrid

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport allowed vlan add 2 untagged

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport allowed vlan remove 1

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport native vlan 2

SwitchHP(configure)# interface ethernet 1/8

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport mode hybrid

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport allowed vlan add 2 untagged

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport allowed vlan remove 1

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport native vlan 2

I have to configure untagged mode on my ports because they are connected directly to a computers on mode access.

Using above configuration everything is working fine.

My problem begin when I try to connect my AP on mode trunk, because it use 2 vlans with different SSIDs, and vlan 1 like native; So, I think aironet tag vlan 2, hence i have to configure my switch port like that:

Port 1/5 from switch on mode hybrid connected by ethernet to aironet sub-interfaces 0.1 and 0.2:

SwitchHP(configure)# interface ethernet 1/5

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport allowed vlan add 2 tagged

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport allowed vlan add 1 untagged

SwitchHP(configure-if)# switchport native vlan 1

That is not working fine because tagged traffic from aironet is dropped for my switch, how can i solve it?

I think I can't configure vlan 2 using tag on my switch because there is a computer connected on that port and its traffic is not tagged...

AP is well configured because i have it configured like that at other location.

is there any way to tag an access port on a switch?

hi there

I think AP talks to controller over wireless using LWAPP protocol, not sure about HP though. So on the switch I think all it needs is the connectivity for DHCP options.

I don't understand very well what you're talking about, because i think my problem is about tagging options on a switch, not about dhcp protocol...

Could you explain me something more about that?

From what I understand SSIDs etc communicate with controller over wireless. As far as switch is concerned, APs receive DHCP options from controller for connectivity, so I think that switch ports can just be access ports.

but i think my configuration is very similar, doesn't it? Why is it not working? Looking for that on google, I found too much threads about connection issues between router on a stick connected to switch 3com (hp).. :s but anything helpful...

Hi Jesus,

The router-on-a-stick concept has been developed by Cisco. I don't know if it will work with third party equipment like HP.
