Solved: 2821 ISR WAN link speed

Hello.

I get from my ISP 50 Mbps upload/download link via BGP. I tried to test today the speed by downloading around 10 torrents simultaneously and I use PRTG Network Monitoring to view port traffic speed. According to PRTG Reports the maximum rate of speed I get is 20 Mbps.

I use Cisco 2821 ISR on my side.

So I would like to know if it's a hardware limitation of my router or I should force provider to verify the link.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

With CEF enable, the 2821 has a throughput of 87.4 Mbps. So you should be able to get close to 50 Mbps

According with the Product Sheets , you have 87mbps with CEF.

The other posters and provided a reference that documents performance of the 2821, but take special note what this document says at its beginning concerning actual performance.

What's your 2821's CPU stats look like during the described conditions?

You're right. The issue was at ISP side.
