ISDN BRI Causes

Unanswered Question
Feb 20th, 2012

Hi,

I have problem with sending causes (User busy, Unallocated/unassigned number) to PSTN via ISDN BRI interface.

In IOS 12.4 gateway 2811 sends:

Feb 20 17:41:25.259 MET: ISDN Se0/0/0:15 Q931: TX -> DISCONNECT pd = 8 callref = 0x98E8

       Cause i = 0x8081 - Unallocated/unassigned number

In IOS 15 gateway 2911 sends:

Feb 20 16:47:29.230: ISDN BR0/2/1 Q931: TX -> PROGRESS pd = 8 callref = 0x8B

       Cause i = 0x8181 - Unallocated/unassigned number

       Progress Ind i = 0x8188 - In-band info or appropriate now available

I have problem with this behavior, because my telephony provider doesn't accept causes in PI, so calling party hear only silence. Is it possible change behavior of 2911 gateway for sending DISCONNECT and Cause instead PROGRESS and Cause.

Thank you,

Jaroslav

I have this problem too.

Hi,

This isn’t CUCM or CME. GW has one ISDN card (2 ports) and one FXS card (4 ports). One port of ISDN card is connected to the PSTN (telephony provider) and FXS card has connected analog phones. If GW received SETUP message from PSTN to number, which isn’t allocated, GW sends PROGRESS message with “Unallocated/unassigned number” cause to the PSTN. But I need send DISCONNECT message to the PSTN (as on 2800 ISR).

Dial-peers:

DP 100 – Outgoing DP to the PSTN

DP 101 – Incomming DP from PSTN (with direct-inward dial option)

DP 200 – Analog phone connected to the FXS card

It should be the default, but can you try

conf t

no voice call convert-discpi-to-prog

And, can you specify the exact IOS are you using.

Anyway I think the problem should not be a major one, because I don't see a reason why people should be calling your unallocated numbers .

Thankyou Amit for indentifying the issue in One (1) Go.I had a  similar issue which was rectified by this same resolution.

Thankyou jaroslav for checking your configuration where the TCL/IVR SCRIPT which was in the call flow. Making it relevent and sensible.

Appreciate everyone's view.

kmonteir Tue, 02/21/2012 - 23:18

can you please show the call flow and the show run of the  of the existing 2811 where its working fine.

jaroslav.srytr Wed, 02/22/2012 - 01:09

I’m sorry for this topic. Problem isn’t in ISRG2, but in TCL application, which is in call path. If I stopped it, ISR and ISRG2 have same (correct) behavour.

Paolo Bevilacqua Wed, 02/22/2012 - 01:24

Thanks for the clarification. Noticeably, no application configuration was present in the config you sent before.

Anyway, it should be possible to code the TCL/IVR script to behave as desired.
