ios aaa and telnet

Unanswered Question

I have aaa new model configured on a number of isr's(1800, 1900, 2900, 3800 etc).  When i have aaa configured, the telnet logins use that authentication and not the password in the line vty portion.  Is this by design.  would disabling aaa enable both telnet and aaa authentications, essentially making it a dual login.

I have this problem too.

This is by design. AAA authentication takes precedence. You won't be able to get a default login because once you enable AAA, it immediately asks for a username to authenticate with.

Hi,

aaa authentication login default line  should give the default login with aaa enabled but not both as you said.

Regards.

Alain.
