Hi all,
I coudn't find an admin guide or something for MCU5300 series. I want to learn that if the ports are flexible or not. You know it supports up to 20HD or 40SD ports. Is it possible to make it support 10HD ports and 20 SD ports at the same time like Polycom RMXes? Or do I have to select one mode (HD or SD) and use only them in this mode?
Best regards,
Tufan

From what I understood its the features of the MSE8510 in a standalone MCU.
On the MSE8510 its not possible, so I say:
No, its not possible to have a flexible port configuration.
So yes, its a fixed setting.
Here some older posting about the MSE8510:

Hi Tufan
MCU5300 its new product. Now i found only datasheet.
In datasheet for MCU5300: Benefit - "Software selectable between HD or SD video ports"
But I think - this feature not same as plcm port feature and need to select one mode (HD or SD) and use only them in this mode.
Waiting admin guide or cisco man )

Hi Tufan,
Please see the snippet below
"
The Cisco TelePresence MCU 5300 Series:
Point 4 states it has to be either HD or SD.
However I will confirm this and will be able to provide you concrete answer on Monday

HI
It will work in either one mode or the other one , you can not mix HD with SD mode.

Hi Cristian,
I used MCU 5320. Can I mix HD with SD port ? Because in datasheet of MCU-5320 described that: LIC-5300-4P is Mix license
If I have 1 Quantity of LIC-5300-4PL means 1 Full HD( 1080p) / 2 HD (720p) / 4 SD ( 576p)/ 8 nHD ( CIF).
Can I use for 3 endpoints: 1 HD and 2 SD ?
Thank you very much,
Hieu

Has been answered already here: mcu5310-lic-5300-4pl.
In short, not possible to mix and match the media port types, can only have one type (ie: FullHD/HD/SD/nHD) active at any one time.

Thanks for all replies. I understand it is not flexible as I expected. We need that way in port usage as we compete with Polycom. I hope Cisco sees that need.

At least for the endpoints it does not matter as SD devices can still connect if its set to HD,
or HD systems to a SD configured MCU, but sure you only get SD quality.
At the end everybody needs to devide which features you really need.
We are happy with our MSE8000.

Dear Tufan,
If this is impacting your / customer bussiness I would really recommend to address this through your Key Account Manager as feature request
Kind regards

Hello,
Is it the same issue inside a stack of MCU 5300 ?
For exemple is it possible to have a stack of two 5300, one configured with HD ports, the other one with SD ports... ?
Best Regards

Hi Romain,
you can see it on the datasheet, its not possible to mix, just see the cluster as one fixed unit which
has the same settings.
Sure you could run them indepndent and the Conductor will also become quite handy for such needs.
