ACS 5.3 virtual HD requirements

Hi

According to the Installation notes for ACS 5.3 we need 500GB

of storage for a working installation - if not it defaults to taking

60 GB of disk space for an eval version.

Seems an awful lot of disk space - does anyone know if there is

a way round this ?

I asked the same question when I implemented ACS 5 in a virtual mode -and the short answer is "No, there isn't".

It has to do (from memory) with database management - which is all internal - and because the "virtual' mode is simply a snapshot clone of the hardware device, and nobody at Cisco bothered to tighten up the routines for virtual environments.

At the time I did it (18 months ago), I was promised that a "better" version which wasn't quite so resource intensive in virtual environemnts was coming - I've since left that job, but the "better" bersion hasn't eventuated yet, so don't go holding your breath!

Cheers.
