I am configuring my first 2911 using a SFP card but I dont know the interface name for this module.
show inv shows the card..
Anyone know the interface number for this card or if it needs some config before it will recognize the interface?

by default Gi0/0,Gi0/1,GI0/2 are all on broad interface. So, your SFP module should be something like Gi1/0 or Gi1/1.etc...
BDW, you don't need any config for the interface to show up. Can you post "sh ip int bri"?

Ok, is the SFP network module all the way inserted into the slot?
If yes, if you connect a device to it, do you see a link light?
Have you tried the same card in a different slot or router?
What is the part number for the card and what ver of IOS are you running?

Its actually just sitting in the lab with nothing connected to it. I was just thinking it would come up with a special interface.
c2951-universalk9-mz.SPA.150-1.M7.bin

If you inserted a card you have to tell the router what it is and what slot it is in i.e. card type t3 Controller t3 2/0. Etc...
Hope this helps.

We do the card type statements for our T1s but this ISR doesnt recognize that command
ISR0019ATL(config)#ca?
