7204VXR (NPE400) GigaEthernet input error

Hello Guys

I have a rather strange problem with a 7204VXR (NPE 400):  running a sh int giga 2/0 on the output see several inputs errors with the respective drops.

I have some losses on icmp packet.

The router si direct connect to Catalyst 6500

Any idea?

That is due to traffic bursts, the old NPE400 is too slow to keep up, causing interface throttling, packet ignored and overrun errors.

What they do not understand is why on another 7200 ( same configuration of hardware and software ) where I have the same volume of traffic is not reflected some losses.

It may look "same trattic", but it is not.

For that amount of traffic you need to upgrade. NPE-400 is 12 years old now.
