One of the main problems is that I have seen is unknown unicast and  multast is supposed to be replicated and sent out all circuits in the  same VPN ID but I have not had any success with this. All link local  multicast stops at the PE. I had it setup with a 1002 as a hub and five 1001 spokes in a lab test rack. From the XE feature notes it looks like it wwas tested on an ASR 903 which apparently has more featers than a 1K. You cannot do TP tunnels on a 1K but they are supported on the 903.

Pretty much all of the good stuff that you see in the 3S config guide lets get you get to 90 percent of what you may want to do but the last 10 percent of the exampls are all from a 903.
