Is it possible to configure WOL through FWSM in routed mode?
We are running version 4.0.

Hi Dominic,
In the directly connected subnet, the FWSM would not be able to pass the broadcast traffic, but if its just a pass-thru then the directed broadcast is just like a unicast traffic and that can be allowed. You have two options:
Either use transparent firewall
or
Do not put the FWSM in the directly connected subnet as the users, you can put the users in a different subnet and keep the FWSM one L3 hop away.
Hoep that helps,
Thanks,

Hi Dominic,
is the FWSM just a pass-thru device or is it the edge device for the directed bbroadcast and supposed to perform the replication?
Thanks,
Varun

Hi Varun
It could be considered as both, pass-thru and edge device. The WOL server is on a VLAN directly connect to a FWSM interface. We have some targer machine on VLAN directly connect to a FWSM interface and other target are reachable througt a point to point to our distribution router.
Thanks for your help
Dominic
