Cisco UCS C210 M2: PXE-E61:

Unanswered Question
May 3rd, 2012

I have bought two UCS C200 M2, when I switched on both server I' saw the following message PXE-E61Media test failure....

Together at UCS C210 M2 I received only the following licence VMW-UC-STD-K9-1A and UnityCN8-K9 and CD with Unity 8.

I tried to access at my VMware software (https://www.vmwaverestore/...........) but I Got the Access denied.

I tried to follow the procedure :

You will need to go into the LSI MegaRaid Controller Bios (Ctrl + H) and select the virtual

drives option on the left. When the Virtual Drives window opens, you must select the drive

(the Raid Volume) that you want as your primary boot disk and below there will be an option

to set as your boot device. Apply it and save.

But it seems that I have not set the drive - sample pic attached.

but at the end of the procedure I see always the same error:

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel Boot agent.

Reboot and Select proper Boot Device

My question are :

Is it normal to see the error PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable ?

If Do I want the server working what I have to do ?

Thank you very much

Let me know

Best Regards

I have this problem too.

Hello Carmine,

Issue #1 --  PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

What is the CIMC version and boot order for the server ?

If you have PXE in the boot order, remove it and let us know the outcome.

Issue #2 -- Registering VMware licenses

IFrom PID, ESXi software was bought via Cisco. Please check the following link for registration process.

Issue #3  -- Boot drive

Yes, when you have mulitple RAID arrays ( Virtual drives ) , you can set the drive from which you have installed the OS and boot the server from.

You can enable the option
