Aironet 1042N-E-9: Problems and questions.

Unanswered Question
May 10th, 2012

Hello,

I have seven Aironet 1042 WAPs, AP1,AP2, ... AP7  . The log reads "Interface Dot11Radio0, Deathenticating station (MAC Address ) Reason:Sending station has left the BSS". Why ?

They are many ERROR CRC,  i do no know what ?

Anybody have any ideas what might be causing this problem WAP?

I have set up 7AP 1042 with the same SSID in standlone mode. I would  like to know if the wifi channels must be configured in auto select or  in manual setting.

In addition, WDS allows it to increase wireless network coverage?

What is crypto pki certificate chain TP-self-signed ?

Thanks,

Hello Ivan,

client stations leaving BSS means your client stations are moving away from the covered area so signal gets weaker and weaker until they are out of coverage. This is pretty normal and happens everywehre when clients move outside the coverage area.

ERROR CRC is a different issue. You need to make sure that your cables in the wired side are OK.

For channel select, you would keep it as auto if you have no specific plans about channel distribution.

WDS does not increase wireless coverage! it is used for authentication and not related to coverage.

crypto pki certificate chain TP-self-signed is a self-signed certificate that is being used for SSH (or https) connections.

Hope this helps.

Hello Ivan

the message is kind of generic it doesn't necessarily means that there serious a problem it can be triggerred if the client leaves the BSS at which it is currently connected to. It might indicate some coverage issues or interfernce in certain situations.

CRCs are powerful indicator for noise and interference if it has been reported on the dot11radio interface.

For the WDS , yeah it can be integrated with WLSE to participate in RRM on autonomous APs where they can get the orders to change the power and channel plan from WLSE based on information reported through WDS.

Hello all;

Thank you for your answers.

"client stations leaving BSS means your client stations are moving away  from the covered area so signal gets weaker and weaker until they are  out of coverage. This is pretty normal and happens everywehre when  clients move outside the coverage area."

  • The client stations are no move the coverage area. ( I connected one Ap for this moment)

"ERROR CRC is a different issue. You need to make sure that your cables in the wired side are OK."

    • Cables are ok,  how to reduce error crc ? (change the configuration of ap ?...maybe...)

If the client is in stationary then you'll get the error message of leaving BSSID when the signal gets weaker so the client is no longer able to communicate with the AP. This could be due interference or noise (or both). You have to check the spectrum and make sure there is no noise or interference. Try changing the channel the AP is operating on and monitor if the problem persists with your client.

check the results of carrier busy test and select clean channel

    Hi,

As mention before the error message "Interface Dot11Radio0, Deathenticating station (MAC Address ) Reason:Sending station has left the BSS" means that the wireless client is not within range of the current access point, it power down its radio, it went in to sleep mode or when working in a bad wifi deployment.

Also remember that AP selection or roaming is a client based decision and if we do not have a proper wifi deploy the wireless clients could be disconnecting and connecting to other APs.

Remember that when working with the 2.4GHZ radio and we have more then 1 access point covering the same site we need to distribute the 3 no overlapping channels that are 1-6-11 between them so that the units do not create interference.
Also if you leave the units on lease congested they are going to be changing from channel constantly making the radio go down and come back up every time it changes the radio and affecting your wireless clients.

Since you have more than 3 access points then you will need to reuse the same overlapping channels leaving the units the further apart.

Also set the data rates to best range on all access points or just basic the lower data rate.

Make sure that the overlap between the APs is not more than 15%
