Hello
I have a strange Problem with a RV220W firewall/router and a Thomson Cable Modem THG571!
When i connect the Router to the cable modem, i do not get an IP. BUT:
If i connect another Router (Fritzbox) to the cable modem it works! --> Internet acces and modem are ok
If i connect the RV220W to another modem (Thomson THG570) it also works! --> Router ok
Important: Both modems are connected to the same provider. I did not change a single parameter on the RV220W (Automatic IP, MTU=Default).
It must be a problem with the combination of the newer Thomson (THG571) modem and the RV220W.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Hans-Peter

Try rebooting the cable modem once you hook up the router. The reboot the router once the modem has finished the boot up.
Some modems only issue an IP to one Mac address per reboot

I did reboot the modem and/or the router in any possible combination with no success. Modem first, rouster first, router only, modem only, .......
No success
With the other router, i did a reboot of the modem and it worked. At the second location with the older modem, i also did a reboot of the modem and it worked with the RV220W.
But no success with the newer modem (THG571) and the RV220W!
