Backup Strategy of Cisco Voice Servers

Hey Everyone,

My boss mentioned to me that he wants to start making backup's of our cisco voice enviornment. Currently we have 4 servers.

1) UCCX

2) Unity

3) UCMPU

4) UCMSUB

All of these servers are build with a RAID 1 mirror. He mentioned that typically people will pull one hard drive to keep as a backup, and then rebuild the mirror with a new blank hard drive.

Is this something anyone can speak to? It sounds pretty straightforward, but I want to find out if there is a typical procedure you would follow for this. I've done similar things with Windows servers, but never in a cisco enviornment.

Just an FYI, we do not support that as a backup method. We only support swapping HDDs in case of failure.

Otherwise, just use the backup method for each product that we provide.

Removing Hard Drives

Cisco only supports replacing failed hard drives. Cisco does not support drive pulling/swapping as a method of fast upgrade reversion, restore, or server recovery. For information on replacing a failed hard drive, refer to the Troubleshooting Guide for Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
