Hi,

Type-2 error like this should refer to a configuration mismatch. Checking the outputs, there is a mismatch in QoS setup:

SW-A-SITE-NK5-01# sh vpc consistency-parameters global

    Legend:

Type 1 : vPC will be suspended in case of mismatch

Name                        Type  Local Value            Peer Value

-------------               ----  ----------------------      -----------------------

QoS                         2     ([], [3], [], [], [],            ([], [], [], [], [],

                                       [])                               [])

Note that beginning with Cisco NX-OS Release 5.0(2)N1(1), QoS parameters have been downgraded from Type 1 to Type 2, so they don't affect the link "up" status.

Looking at the configurations, there do seem to be differencies in QoS part.

Ivan

how should i resolve this issue Ivan now Ivan?

what about second errror i got during vpc configuration ...

SW-A-SITE-NK5-02# sh vpc

Legend:

(*) - local vPC is down, forwarding via vPC peer-link

vPC domain id                   : 5

Peer status                     : peer adjacency formed ok

vPC keep-alive status           : peer is alive

Configuration consistency status: success

Per-vlan consistency status     : success

Type-2 consistency status       : failed

Type-2 consistency reason       : QoSMgr Qos configuration incompatible

vPC role                        : secondary

Number of vPCs configured       : 1

Peer Gateway                    : Disabled

Dual-active excluded VLANs      : -

Graceful Consistency Check      : Enabled

vPC Peer-link status

i managed to solve the issue with QoSMgr Qos configuration incompatible.

Of some reasone some QoS configuration were mising on SW-A-SITE-NK5-02 switch.

But i still have issue wth Type-2 consistency statu failed, which i am not able to figure out ...

Could you send the fresh output of "sh vpc consistency-parameters global ", please?

Kind Regards,
Ivan

Hi,

The "Type-2 consistency status       : failed" indicates consistency status (failed => inconsistent/mismatching), while "Type-2 consistency reason       : QoSMgr Qos configuration incompatible" indicates in which part of the vpc setup is this inconsistency detected at (QoS in your case)..

I have checked the configuration differencies and I see the following QoS configured on NK5-01 but missing on NK5-02:

policy-map type network-qos fcoe-ny-default

  class type network-qos class-fcoe

    pause no-drop

    mtu 2158

  class type network-qos class-default

    mtu 9216

    multicast-optimize

system qos

  service-policy type queuing input fcoe-default-in-policy

  service-policy type queuing output fcoe-default-out-policy

  service-policy type qos input fcoe-default-in-policy

Could you make the QoS configuration identical (delete from NK5-1 or configure on NK5-2) and check if that fixed the inconsistency?

Kind Regards,
Ivan

like i wrote previously, the issue was with missing QoS paramenter on sw2

The onlye reasone i am able to see here is that switch 2 does not have  those vlan og some reason whic actually should be there by default ?

1002 enet  CE

1003 enet  CE

1004 enet  CE

1005 enet  CE

okay ..

i decided to remove feature vpc from both switches and let the switch1 be vtp server and switch 2 client (changed from transparent mode) and thing seems to work fine now ...i really dont why this did not worked ....

Hi,

Saw your update about QoS already after checking the config differencies and posting :-)

About VTP mismatch error - it is actually shown in the "sh vpc consistency-parameters global":

     VTP mode                    2     Server                 Transparent

Looks like you got different VTP modes on your switches while those should be matching.

Ivan

Ivan, what is the reason why my configuration cannot be like mentioned in attached files in my first post?

I am using two Nk5 switches and they are connected together like u can see from configuration files, by using 2x10 Gig interfaces and they are in one vPC domain and i am using peer keepalive between switches as well.

I want to use one of those Nk5 switches (swith 01) like a vtp server and all other switches in the network, including Nk5 switch 2, in transparent mode. But this scenario seems not to work properly...

VPC and VTP have nothing in common  so it depends on how you want to connect your servers up .   VPC is used when you want redundant connections to 2 different switches in a active/active setup .

Grant i do understand differences between vPC and VTP . My question is why i was not able to run VTP Transparent mode on switch-02 when the switch-01 were placed in VTP Server mode ..?

So evry time I want to add one new VLAN ID on switch-01, that new vlan id should appear on switch-02 as well...

after i changed VTP mode on switch-02 from Transparent to the Client mode, following error messages disappeared

Hi,

If you have a chance, try to configure transparent mode again. In case it does not show the inconsistency, then you could have hit the following bug:

CSCtn48439    Type-2 consistency failed for vtp after switchover

Same issues i was facing.

But below commang tun and its working file.

Please run on both switch

policy-map type network-qos jumbo
  class type network-qos class-default
          mtu 9216
system qos
  service-policy type network-qos jumbo

and also run enable jumbo frame 9216 via this command
system jumboframe 9216
of you are using jumbo frame so please also run on interface vlan like
interface Vlan886
no shutdown
mtu 9216
description MGMT
no ip redirects
ip address 10.153.x.y/25
