guys confuse abt one thing in DHCP
we have a swicth and a router
vlan 100 10.1.1.2/24 in swicth and 10.1.1.1/24 is router ethernet ip which swicth is conected to.
ip dhcp pool exclude 1-2
ip dhcp pool user
network 10.1.1.0 255.255.255.0
default-router 10.1.1.1
what does that mean........is it a default gateway for pc??? or is it a default gateway for swicth??
one of our router has a builtin swicth and it has the default router its own vlan ie 10.1.1.2 insetad of 10.1.1.1
so what is the purpose and is it pc default gateway or what thanks guys
It's the default gateway assigned to any client which receives its address from the DHCP server running on the router.
So a device would get an address in the range 10.1.1.3 to 10.1.1.254, with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and a default gateway of 10.1.1.1, which would direct all non-local traffic from the host to the ROUTER for forwarding - which is what you want.
Cheers.
