Hi,
We have implemented WLAN using Cisco WLAN controller (5508) and AP (AIR-CAP3502E-E-K9), i am trying to connec AP (which have gigabit port) with Layer 3 switch using UTP Cat-6 Cable having 24 AWG Wire Gauge.
What maximun length i can achieve by using above mentioned cable??

But in our case we needs the distance of about 180-200 meter, and one more thing we are planning to use POE.
How can we extend the distance??

Noman

Hi Noman,
any cat cable cannot extend more than 100 meters, specally POE , you will need to use a managed switch with poe to extend cables, you have cut the cable about 100-95 m, then connect the switch then use another cable for remaining length.
i did the same thing for our network
thanks.
Irfan.
