Environment:
ASA5520 V8.4(4)-1,
Any Connect Secure Mobility Client V3.0.08057
Radius Server W2k8 R2
Problem: Username with special German characters e.g. ä,ü,ö
can’t establish a VPN-Connection. This works with ASA 8.4(1)
Radius Protocol:
Code: Access-Reject (3)
AVP: l=22 t=Vendor-Specific(26) v=Microsoft(311)
VSA: l=16 t=MS-Chap-Error (2): \000E=691 R=0 V=3
Is this a bug or a new feature?

I located an identical defect (CSCts28455) that was closed as unreproducible. The defect references CSCtj73444 "Add support for UTF-8 password to LDAP and RADIUS/MSCHAP" which is added to 8.4.2 with the recommendation of RADIUS/MSCHAP or LDAP only for international character support. It would make sense to go to the latest in your current train (ie: 8.4.4.1.ED) and see if the issue remains. What you want to do appears to be supported.

The problem arised with version 8.4.4.1ED. There was no problem with version 8.4.(1).

My apologies, I misread your description. You will probably need to open a TAC case. Matthew
