MCU/TMS layouts

Hello,

I have a couple of C40s with dual displays /Profiles with dual screens. If a C40 initiates a 3 way call using MS, they can see the other two participants split across the two displays. However the other two participants with dual displays see the video on a single screen. Is there a setting I can change in the codecs so that no matter who initiated a call, they are able to see each other's video on both displays. I know the Codec with the MS has two streams coming in whereas the others do not but I was wondering if there is any setting to split the streams and display it on the multiple screens even though the multisite initiator is a different endpoint?

Also is the same possible on a MCU? Are there any layouts that accomplish this? Is TMS able to setup the conference in the above manner?

George,

The short answer is no this is not possible.  You are correct, the 'hub' codec is sending/receiving (2) streams, one to each of the 'spoke' codecs.  Since the 'spoke' codecs are only receiving (1) stream they cannot separate out the different origin streams.  This is the whole concept behind TIP, immersive rooms, the TP server etc.

The 'hub' codec multiplexes the streams into one stream for all the 'spoke' codecs.  With the 'hub' codec you can determine how that single multiplexed stream will appear on the 'spoke' codecs as far as the layout, but it will still be on one screen and one stream.

Justin

Thanks Justin!

Do you by chance know if this is going to be added in an upcoming release or is it not possible from a HW perspective?

George,

I would say it will not be added to the software for two reasons.  One is that the individual codecs do not have enough power to encode/decode the calls and de-multiplex the streams etc.  If you look at a multi screen deployment it involves several codecs plus a TelePresence server to do the de-multiplexing/multiplexing of the streams.  Second reason would be money, they would never sell any immersive rooms

Money is indeed a problem

Is the same applicable for content sharing? Can that be displayed on a second screen during a MS or MCU call? I have BFCP enabled between CTS and Cseries.
