What are different types of entries and their meaning in the "Next hop" field from the "sh ip cef" command

Hello Sabari,

Prefix: The longest match for a specific subnet or IP address. ( Could be a host or a network, this is what makes the difference from the routing table and the forwarding information table because you seldom see host Ip's on the routing table unless configured or advertised) This will provide a better performance at the time to do a route lookup.

Next hop:  1-Attached: Directly connected

                2- x.x.x.x : Ip address of the next hop Ip address

                3-Receive: No next hop defined so need to be sent to the Router Engine (RE) for further lookup
