Hi Sai,

No you cannot configure the VEM on each host without the VSM. As one of the basic concepts of the N1K as a DVS the VSM controls and programs all the VEMs.

Hello,

Just in case i dont have a VSM,

Can i configure only the VEM on a single blade as a standard Stand alone switch not DVS?

Repeating the question,

It is clear that VEM for DVS is configured by the VSM.

I have only 1 blade and dont have a VSM.

Can i make the VEM on that blade act as a standalone switch ?

Thank you

In that case you can use vswitch from vmware but you loose nx-os cli features since it requires vsm
