Google voice is not a VOIP service. Google Voice offers a consolidated service that ties in all of your existing lines to a Google Voice number then forwards the inbound calls to all numbers registered to the Google Voice Service. The SPA would still require a number to tie in to the Google services. If Google Voice offers a SIP registration, then it may be a valid service as an ITSP.

But to answer in short, the SPA should be able to join the Google Voice service provided the SPA has a valid telephone number.

For anyone stumbling across this (old) thread, the request to use the SPA112 with google voice is easily accomplished at simonics.com:

  • one-time $6 fee (great price!)
  • browse to simonics.com in Chrome browser while logged into the gmail account associated with your google voice number (very important);
  • click the tab that reads "'GOOGLE VOICE GATEWAY"
  • click the button "sign in with google"
  • pay the $5.99 one-time charge via PayPal
  • "return to vendor" after PayPal completes
  • enter your google voice number in the box on the simonics web page; and
  • the sip registration details are explained here: https://simonics.com/2012/03/setting-up-a-linksys-pap2-with-the-google-voice-gateway/
  • Its a good idea to "reset to factory defaults" by one of several methods first, including sticking an unfolded paper clip into the "reset" hole on the SPA112 (while powered up), and waiting a minute or two.
  • You can find helpful tips on how to access the configuration interface for the SPA112 (and other useful info for a DIY-er) here:  http://blog.voipdiy.com/2016/10/configuring-cisco-spa112-voip-ata-with.html

Good luck, Drew.
