Do I need a static IP for the remote RV180 ?

I have a static IP for the host RV180, however do I need a static IP for the remote RV180 ?

Hi Mark,

Do you mean public static ip address from service provider? It depends on your network and from where you want to remote on to RV180. If you want to remote from Internet then obviously you would need Public Static IP from service provider. But if you want to remote from you local network then Public Static ip addres may not be required as long as you device ip address is reachable from your network.

Hi Mark, if you need remote access to a router either via VPN, RDP session, whatever the case may be, you can use services such as DYNDNS to map your ISP address to a name. The host name will update each time your WAN IP changes.
