Hi all,
My query is specific to cisco. If i have a SFP+ port in any switch/router etc, can i insert and use SFP port in that ? i recall reading somewhere that SFP+ port is backward compatible with SFP ports.
By backward compatible i mean that we can insert a sfp port in sfp+ port and it will work in 1 G mode. I know that if one end is 10 G and other is 1G it wont work.
Kindly guide

1. Go to this website: Cisco Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver Modules Compatibility Matrix
2. Search for a switch which has a dual-speed SFP port, like a 2960S-24TD and see what SFP are compatible.

I am aware that All Cisco Catalyst switch SFP+ is backward compatible to SFP.
How about SMB switches? (SB or CB Series)
Does it apply the same concept with Catalyst switch?
