Hi,
Will be deploying this device for a small office. Just a quick question, does a Cisco Catalyst 2960PD-8TT-L switch provides PoE on all its 8 ports or just powered on thru its PoE uplink port.
Was reading URL below but didn't get much info. TIA!

Sorry John, my comment is not directed at you. The link you've posted, the contents are very, for the lack of a better word, misleading.

Go to this site instead. It shows that the model you've chosen does NOT have PoE. Instead it uses the PoE from an upstream switch to power up the appliance.

thanks leo! was expecting that it was an PoE uplink port.
can i use this port to power a downstream AP?
edit: also, i remember you guys discussed before a 2960 doing L3 routing. does this platform supports it?

Hi John,
No. This model can only receive PoE power. The downstream ports are non-PoE.
I think in the next few days, Cisco Live 2013 Orlando, Cisco will be releasing a fanless 2960S with PoE support. Possibly 8 ports.
Layer 3 ... ummmmm ... Yes and no. Yes, the 2960/G/S can support Layer 3 static routes, up to 16 static routes, if you run version 12.2(55)SE and later.
The recently announced 2960XR will support RIPv1, RIPv2, OSPFv2 stub and a few others.
Sorry, to sound "rough" but what are you trying to do?

I'm just trying to check if there's anything fancy or I could do further with this switch.
Anyways, the site only needs a layer 2 compact switch and nothing more.
Thanks again Leo for your inputs!

If you want a cheap compact switch, then there are several compact 2960C models, either PoE or not. Not only compact but fanless.
3560C also has a few (8- or 12 port) but slightly more expensive.
Thanks for the ratings, John.
