Hi all
I'm facing a strange issue on my LAN to a remote site over a layer 2 Ethernet link.
I have a server which shares files, the server runs Linux
If I download a file from the server from the local LAN it's fine.
However if I go to my remote site and do the same it goes from 10 secs to 5 mins to download a 75 mbit file.
However on the remote site if I then download a file from a pc which sits on the same switch and vlan of the server it's fine, the server runs windows.
Any ideas what this could be ?
On the sniffer there seems to be a lot of retransmissions between the 2 devices.
However, as the server is ok from the local LAN, and the remote LAN downloads from another pc ok I'm struggling to find what it could be?

How are the two sites connected, MetroE, VPN, MPLS, etc...? What is the connection speed?

They are connected via a Ethernet link, 100mbit routed over a vlan

Sorry, you already stated that in the original post, "remote site over a layer 2 Ethernet link"
So am I to assume each site has their own VLAN - so each local site is a seperate VLAN?
Are you doing anything with VTP, or intervlan routing on a router? Basically trying to understand the IP flow now.

This was discussing changes to the MTU, what is your MTU set at?
