Hi Pros,
Can I perform the following two configurations in the same gateway?
voice card 0
dspfarm
dsp services dspfarm
AND
dspfarm profile 10 MTP
codec g729r8
codec pass-through
maximum sessions software 100
associate application SCCP
I read in one of Cisco's documentations that if "dsp serivce dspfarm" is configured in a gateway the only available MTP option would be the hardware MTP. If we want to use the software MTP we need to remove the dsp services dspfarm" command from the configuration. Is this a valid statement?
Thanks for shading some lights on this one,
Regards,
MK

Not sure where you read it, but to my knowledge this is incorrect. I have configured it on many occasions without any problems, and cannot think of why DSP sharing for profiles would have any affect on software MTP.

Interesting, I was not aware of this, and this doc looks very old. You might want to open a TAC case to validate this.

I am sure there're some TAC poeple in this forum. Anybody can confirm the below statement before I open a TAC case?
"Software MTPs are supported on the router only if the dsp service dspfarm command is not enabled on the voice card."
Thanks,
MK

Well, as Chris said, that document is pretty old. Pretty sure that SRND will say something about it:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/srnd/8x/media.html#wp1046314
If you look at some recent docs:
There is no mention of that weird limitation
